Niche research is the foundation of Internet marketing. But how do we go about identifying a real niche with real demand? Here is a quick, simple, guaranteed method for finding niches with demand!
Niche research is one of the most important aspect of Internet marketing. In many ways the niche you choose becomes the basis for your business. It will determine what product or service you are selling, as well as where and how to market. Much has been written about niche research and picking a niche, with traditional thinking being that you should choose a niche that you have significant interest and, or skills and knowledge of. That may or may not be practical. But specifically, how would you find your category? If we start with the premise that we want to choose a niche, where there is a specific demand, as in people with a need or problem to solve, we can simply let them tell us what they're looking for. Suppose we were able to ask the search engines, what needs were problems are people searching for answers to? Well, we actually can ask them! Using any of the keyword research tools, such as Wordtracker or Googles AdWords keyword tool, we can find out specifically what people are looking for. Using Wordtracker's free keyword tool for instance, which gives you the top 100 most searched keywords and phrases for any seed key word or phrase you input, you can find out precisely what people are asking. For instance, using "How do I" or "How to" as your seed phrase, Wordtracker returns the top 100 searches performed that start with "How do I...": "How do I throw a sinker", or "How do I decorate a myspace page", or "How do I get get a passport"... You get the idea. Any one of these can become the basis for a niche offering or website. Wordtracker tells me that someone is asking "How do I throw a sinker" more than 60 times every day. This method of niche research insures that you can find a niche with demand; after all, we are seeing what people are actually typing into a search engine. Once you choose you niche, you can then go about the business of building a product, finding affiliate offers, or creating a website. But at least you have performed some tangible niche research to identify an area with real demand! |
