| Can a Generic Step-by-Step Marketing System Really Help Online Marketing Efforts? |
|
One hears about systems such as those that promise "proven step-by-step" methods. Can these sometimes generic sounding online marketing strategies really help launch a home based or internet based business?
For those who are more experienced in the various marketing methods available to the web-based entrepreneur - regardless of the system being advertised, some of this information may be superfluous. But for those who are still looking for "the magic bullet," or the "perfect product," or the "perfect system," this article may help shed some clarity on the subject. For starters, here's is a quick hint: There is no "magic bullet" there is no "perfect product," and there is no "perfect system." Please don't take me as a cynic. All I'm trying to say is that if one is researching marketing systems or strategies or products, one after another without ever actually sitting down and implementing one with any degree of consistency, that person is not likely to see any success. The key is not just the product, system or opportunity, but in working with the product, system or opportunity - actually marketing the product or opportunity by implementing the chosen system. Many hopeful internet marketing entrepreneurs get lured in by hype and the stories of others who have succeeded, and become so enthralled with what they see others have done - the other person's story - that they fail to use the system to market their product or opportunity themselves. They remain "stuck" in the story of the testimonials rather than carve a success story out for themselves. I am not saying this to be harsh or mean. If some of this sounds familiar, then it won't really matter what system one subscribes to, does it? Because, unless the entrepreneur sits down and follows the instructions, connects the dots for him or herself, rolls up the shirtsleeves, and does something - and does it on a scheduled, consistent basis, then that person will continue to shop for the next "magic bullet," disgustedly delete the program that "didn't work," perhaps rant about the program that "didn't work," and continue to read the success stories and testimonials of the next product, system or opportunity - instead of becoming a success story for him or herself. See how this might pertain to whatever plan or system you are considering? What is usually promised - and delivered in most of these is that I, you, or anyone else can begin using the methods instantly. Today. If it is really a system worth its salt, one look at the product should show the buyer that there are proven steps that the internet marketing entrepreneur can and should take in order to get traffic to his or her website. Remember - once one has found a product to sell, the next thing he or she needs is customers. These systems, methods or plans should offer instruction on the steps to take - the work to do - that will help get that traffic to the site. But, don't purchase it, set it "on the shelf," and expect it - or any other program - to work its magic without doing the work. Don't look at it a week or a month from now with disgust, and say, "This didn't work." Notice that the key trait here is that the person typically gives up when the program "didn't work." Since when is a program or system empowered to do the work? By the sheer act of purchasing the program? Yes, this sounds childish, does it not? Yet, how many people purchase something with great hope - only to place it on a shelf, in a closet - or, in the case of internet marketing, in a folder on the laptop, with the promise that 'Yes, tomorrow I will start looking at this system. Maybe I'll even fit in a little time to follow one of the steps." Take heed of what self-made and successful internet entrepreneur Darren Salkeld says: "If you do nothing, then nothing happens." So, after all is said and done, these plans and strategies should offer a proven, viable, step by step process that can help even newcomers to internet marketing build a real business online. For those who already have an existing business, the process should show how to get increased traffic to their websites. For those who are ready to commit to their online business - or any other business for that matter - and do the work necessary to succeed, then a purchased internet marketing system will be a fine tool to have in their internet marketing arsenal. And you know what that means? It means that it's time to actually get to work! |
