It was back in high school where I first heard these words, "Gentlemen, whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve". Huh? What does this have to do with basketball? Besides, I just got out of class and I want to play some ball and hopefully make the team. It's been a few years since Coach Hamm tried to instill in us that life is much more than just basketball. There's a whole world out there full of opportunities, disappointments and challenges. Through all the pre-game, half-time and post game talks from Coach Hamm, the one phrase I'll always remember to this day is his ABC's. Conceive and believe it in your mind and you will achieve it. The 'It' in this article is riches. The first step to riches, according to Napoleon Hill, is desire. What is desire? Desire is a longing or craving, as for something that brings satisfaction or enjoyment. Here are the steps that will help you turn your desires into riches. 1. Know the exact amount of money that you desire. Don't be casual about it. Give it some thought. It's not good enough to say that you want a lot of money. Be specific. 2. What are you going to give up or sacrifice to obtain that which you desire. 3. Give yourself a definite date on when this will be accomplished. Be specific again. 4. Create a definite plan. Stick to it. Work it. Begin now. 5. Write it down. How much do you want to accumulate. When are you going to get there. What will you give in return for these riches and how exactly do you plan on making this happen. 6. Read your statement twice daily. See yourself having possession of these riches now. It is important when you begin this journey to have a burning desire for riches. You cannot simply wish for it. Wishing does not make you rich. Having a burning desire to accumulate wealth begins with conceiving and believing it in your mind. You will achieve riches. |
