Here is an explanation of what free means from the NATIONAL DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE - published by - P. F. COLLIER & SON CORPORATION, NEW YORK - COPYRIGHT, 1937: "without restraint; at liberty; permitted; liberal; generous; open; free from guilt; independent; familiar; licentious; not arbitrary or despotic; spirited; not attached or fixed; uncombined; invested with franchise, etc. (with of): to set at liberty; emancipate; rid or exempt; clear: adv. gratuitously. The only word in the explanation that comes close to the use of the word on the Internet is gratuitously. The dictionary defines gratuitously as: "freely bestowed; voluntary; without cause or provocation; granted without merit of claim." Free is a strong word, it has a lot of pull and sway. It says follow me. From where I sit I do not think we get anything completely free. If someone is giving $100 bills away ten miles away, getting there is giving something. I often thought that if we use the last definition of a word in our writing, no reader will understand what we were writing about. My definition for free as used on the Internet would be, get it for nothing or no charge; which will mean: we are not going to charge you for looking at our site, business, plan, program, or to use our system (limited) or for a time certain to see if you like it or have any use for it. Not a bad deal especially if one has some interest in what is offered. Often for myself I am seldom interested in what is offered. We are not going to know its appeal unless we take it into our ambiance our atmosphere. So, we are not getting completely for free; we must do something, by way of reading, or use the information. We have to engage our mind and sometimes body. What is that? Though it is not monetary it is something. There must be a word out there that explains what is going on. Sometimes the offer is put on us by some mysterious means, suddenly it appears in front of us without an invite and before we know it we are distracted and doing something we did not intend. Free is, do you want to just take a chance. Free is, do you want an idea. Free is, do you need internet help. Free is, do you feel opened minded (now). Free is, are you looking for a home business. Free is, are you a positive thinker? Free is, what do you have to lose; take a look... Free is... |
