The first thing you will need in order to apply is that you must have maintained at least one AdWords account for a period of no less than 90 days. It's also necessary that your financial input for maintaining the accounts during the 90 day terms is no less than $1000. And finally you need to register and pass the Google Advertising Exam. Although you don't need to pay anything to sign up for the program, but you do need to pay $50 in order to take the test and if you don't make the grade the first time, then you need to pay the same amount each time you retake the test. Post signup, you will have access to a sort of a control panel called "My Client Center". You can use this as your master account and handle multiple AdWords accounts from this same interface with a single login. Here you will find customizable options that allow you to set your personal settings to suit your needs. You can also use this interface to "link" and "unlink" client accounts. Apart from managing client accounts, you will also gain access to Google's Learning Center. Here you can go over free web related lessons and quizzes, mostly in interactive flash that you can use to prepare for the main exam. After you spend some time getting acquainted with and learning the syllabus, you can register, pay and take the Google Advertising Exam. In the exam you will find a series of around 100 questions covering basic as well as advanced topics. The time allotted for you to take this test will be exactly 1.5 hours and in order to clear the exam successfully you need to score no less than 75% on the test. If you don't succeed the first time, you can take the exam as many as two times a month and once you do clear it, you will be known as a Google AdWords Professional and will be awarded a professional logo that you can put on your website to display your credentials. Just be sure to read the fine print carefully since the usage of the logo requires strict adherence to certain guidelines. You should also know that the AdWords professional title will only last you a year from the date you qualify as an AdWords professional. Although it isn't exactly a piece of cake to become an AdWords professional, if you think you have the right weapons in your armory to become one, then you should go ahead and meet the challenge head on.
