This includes your design, layout, writing, and essentially every aspect of your webpage. The problem is that a lot of newcomers have no idea how to begin and get lost in all of the confusion regarding how to properly split test and how to avoid costly (and time consuming) mistakes.
A lot of newcomers to the Internet Marketing industry will hear from seasoned marketers how important it is to split test your copy. This includes your design, layout, writing, and essentially every aspect of your webpage. The problem is that a lot of newcomers have no idea how to begin and get lost in all of the confusion regarding how to properly split test and how to avoid costly (and time consuming) mistakes. So how do you split test your copy to ensure that it is optimized for top results? It's quite easy to be honest. All you have to do is create two identical web pages. Then, change one aspect of one of the pages (example: Your Title). Do NOT Change anything else! The purpose of testing is to identify what works better between two different styles, and changing more than one thing at a time, will only cause confusion since you will not know what changes worked better. Therefore, you must only change one thing at a time. Start with your header copy, then your sub-title and so on. Once you have evaluated the testing results, you will know which page out-preformed the other and be able to tweak your results until you have a fine tuned webpage. One of the most important changes you can make, in terms of split testing, is your price point. You need to evaluate your market to determine what the highest price point is that is acceptable without turning visitors (and potential customers away). There is always a very fine line between pricing your products and services too low and going way above industry standard. You need to take the time to test different price amounts to determine exactly how much you can charge for your services while still generating satisfactory sales. Be sure to allow an adequate time frame for your testing, for instance, one week is the bare minimum and two weeks will give you more conclusive and accurate results. The bottom line is, testing really is essential if you want to get the most out of your website, and since you put all that time and effort into creating it, surely you want to do your best to cater to your audience the best way that you can. Test and test again! |
