| If You Build It, They Wont Come |
|
Just because you've made the greatest website in the world, doesn't mean anyone's coming to visit it. You can change that, though. Find out how to get massive traffic to your website.
Internet marketing is not like magical baseball movies. In "Field of Dreams" it all worked out. He built it and they came. But in the internet marketing world, that's probably not going to work. For one thing, there are just too many competing websites out there. If a keyword phrase has a mere 100,000 competing pages, that's considered good. You and I only see the tip of the iceberg of webpages that are out there, anyway. We just see what Google or Yahoo have indexed. The internet is 90% garbage. It's just that the garbage gets filtered out by the search engines. My point is, any webpage has a ton of competition. Build a webpage, and guess what? It will never get found. What does this mean to you the internet marketer? You have to make traffic come your way. There are a few ways of doing this (in no particular order): Pay Per Click (Personally, I like free traffic. At least until I understand the metrics of a particular niche, and I can establish what's called "visitor value." ) What you need to do, though, is to get good at using one of two of these so you can immediately get traffic to your site. What really needs to happen is this: you need to develop a method for identifying niches, building tests sites, getting traffic to those sites, then taking the information you get from that and building out a full site. This is so you don't waste time on one of two deadly sins of internet marketing-building sites that you can't get traffic to, and building sites for niches that are not profitable. Just because you get traffic doesn't mean those people spend money! If you take a step-by-step approach to this, you'll have more success and drill fewer "dry holes." |
