| Incentive Bribes - Are They Legitimate? |

Can you legitimately give away things just to entice people to sign up at your website? Is there really such a thing as an "ethical bribe?" Let's put it straight, first.
Can you legitimately give away things just to entice people to sign up at your website? Is there really such a thing as an "ethical bribe?" Let's put it straight, first. If you are giving people things to get their emails, but then don't send them any emails that help them, then, yes, that is an unethical bribe. If you genuinely want to help people, and I'm sure that many of you do, give them as the incentive something that will help them. But, and the most important part is, after they sign up with you, make sure that what you give them as your own product/service line really WILL help them! So, if you have good-quality things to send them after their free gift, by all means, give them a little incentive as a thank you gift for signing up with you. What kinds of things can be used as incentives? 1. Free reports! Surely, you already are very familiar with the credit check agencies offering free credit reports. And, in most of their cases, they would send you a report of your credit if you sign up for their special credit monitoring system. There is the great incentive that leads to a product or service. Why not write up your own report or article about your marketing business field. Trends in the industry. Predictions from the masters in the field. Past promotions or progresses within the industry. Take your pick. You can even do a series of reports on various facets of the industry. 2. Free game or activity! You can easily hire someone to put up a cute little game on your site. Remember how incredibly popular "Pong" was when it first came out? It was a really simple game, but it drove the world crazy! Why not put up a free game so the potential client or associate could enjoy themselves. After all, giving them a little smile really will help your sales! Also, you could have them print out a free kids' activity or recipe for something very tasty and enticing. A picture of the completed project, or surely the picture of the dish, will always be natural enticements just to look! 3. Free shipping or deluxe version! I've always wondered why saving the whole $7.99 postal fee is always such a big deal to some people. For some reason, that is the bit that is just enough to push the doubtful spender over the edge and to sign up to purchase your product. Of course, to entice them to join immediately instead of waiting a week to "think about it," you can always give them a bonus of a deluxe version of the product or service. Perhaps in addition to free shipping! 4. Free e-book or e-course! Give a free e-book or e-course which has valuable content on some topic of interest for your ideal client/ or customer. 5. Contest entry! Of course, you can combine the physical monetary value of all of the smaller thank you gifts into one large thank you gift, and make that a grand prize. I have a feeling that an $59 e-book would attract a number of customers. However, a chance at an $899 flat screen television will attract a whole lot more! People LOVE entering contests! |
