Every article you read led to another dozen articles, six words you didn't understand, and a couple of concepts you almost got. The next article often gave you advice exactly opposite that of the first article. This is the first of two articles on this topic.

This is exactly what you need to do for your customers: take them by the hand, explain everything carefully and clearly to them. Show them where to start and what the benefits are. You need to do all this, without dumping enormous amounts of information on them that they cannot digest.

Here's the internet marketing reality. Your customers are often beginners in the topics you are an expert in. Experts have a lot of trouble coming back down to a beginner's level simply because they know their material so well. It's hard to conceive of someone not understanding it as well. It's a sort of specialized geekiness - you may be a fashion geek, weight loss geek, computer geek. In any situation, the geek is the person who is so close to his or her topic that they have a translation barrier between themselves and less exalted mortals, or beginners.
