There is an old saying that you can't get blood from a stone. The same is true when it comes to Internet marketing. This article explains.

Have you heard the old saying that you can't get blood from a stone? Sure you have. Well, the same thing is true when it comes to internet marketing. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, keep reading and you'll get a crystal clear picture.

This is a true story. A friend of mine from the Warrior Forum contacted me and told me that he really wanted to make some money off of this niche that he'd been interested in for many years. He asked me for some advice. Well, I told him to send me his site so I could look at it. I then took a look at the keywords in the niche and based on what I found, I told him that there was money to be made but probably not a lot. Why? Well, that's the focus of this article.

Let's say that you wanted to sell a specialty item. Let's say it's ear muffs for dogs. Let's say that when we did our niche research we found that there were only about 150 monthly searches, on average, for that item. Let's say that we made $20 for each ear muff sold. And let's say that we were the only ones to make ear muffs for dogs and we sold to all 150 searches each month. If you do the math, that comes out to $3,000 a month. If your goal was to build a six figure business, you aren't going to do it just selling ear muffs for dogs. The demand just isn't there.

That is what I mean by getting blood from a stone. I don't care how much money you want to make from your business. If the demand isn't there, forgetting about the competition completely, there is no way you're going to reach your goal. Now, if you're goal is to just make $1,000 a month, then yes, maybe you CAN do that by selling dog ear muffs. But six figures? When hell freezes over and they start handing out ear muffs down there.

So what's the solution? Well, there is no solution to this problem. If you're determined to sell dog ear muffs, that's your market. However, if you want to make six or even seven figures a year, then you simply need to find a market where the demand is there. And trust me, there are plenty of markets that get hundreds of thousands of searches each month. The trick is to find them.

Okay, got it? You can't get blood out of a stone.

Though I am sure there will be those who will keep on trying.
