| Internet Marketing With Niches - When Less is More |
|
When you are developing a new website, you do not need a superstore to be profitable. In fact, if you carve out a tight niche market, you will be more likely to succeed for several reasons. Come and find out what niche marketing is all about.
When we speak about a market niche, we are talking about specific and tightly defined areas of a larger market. So a superstore of a website may sell shoes of all types. However, a niche website may choose to concentrate on one part of that market. Some examples of niches within the shoe category might be shoes for people with narrow feet, beach shoes, running shoes, or dress shoes. A book superstore may pride itself on stocking all sort of books, but a niche bookstore could concentrate on books for computer programmers, cookbooks, or travel. So while an online superstore website tries to be all things for all people, a niche website just concentrates on a specific area of a larger market. Now many people who are building their first websites believe that more products will please more people. More products, more people, and more sales mean more money. Right? Most of the time that logic does not work out. Unless you have a huge budget, and a large staff, you do not want to begin with a superstore. You want to begin with a boutique. For one thing, you will have plenty of work to do in order to drive traffic to your niche products.Concentrating on a specific niche also allows you to concentrate on finding the best products in that area, and of course, becoming an expert on that area. While you are learning how to build your online business, and to get that business to profit, do not try to become an expert on a huge market at the same time. Rather than trying to serve more people, you should concentrate on serving the people who want your specific service very well! Then, when you get very good at serving that market in a way that leaves your visitors happy and makes you money, consider moving on to the next niche. In time, you may very well find yourself with an online superstore, or a network of sites that cover a large area of the market. But when you are starting out with your first few money making websites, I would always advise you that less is more! |
