Is Giving Away FREE Stuff Doing Your Internet Business Any Favors?
If you're on any of the internet marketing gurus mailing lists lately you'll notice a steady increase in the amount of free videos and software that's being promoted. But should you follow this trend?

If you're on any of the internet gurus mailing lists lately you'll notice a steady increase in the amount of free videos and software that's being promoted.

But should you follow this trend?

The reason I bring this up is that if something is free do you really have the same value on it as something you've paid for.

For example if I was looking for a product on, say "Google Adsense" and I visited 2 websites one offered a product for free and the other one had a price tag.

Which would I consider more valuable?

I don't know about you but I'd consider the paid version more valuable. The two reports may have the same great content (or the free version could be better) but I think I'd have more of an inclination to put the paid version to use and follow the action steps more closely compared to the free version? I've made an investment in it so I want a return for my money.

I bet it's the same for you?

If I asked where that last report you paid $97 was on your hard drive was, you'd have very little trouble tracking it down compared to a free report that you got form somewhere written by some who?

But is there a way around this? Can you add value to a product that's free?

How?

The name that's linked to the free report/software.

For example if you had 2 free reports side by side on the same topic but one was written by Jimmy D Brown, which would you go for?

Of course you'd go for Jimmy's one.

Why?

Well because if the name (is one you know) is linked to the product, you know its going to be a good one. He/She's staked their reputation on it. If you're disappointed in the content, it makes him/her look bad and anything else they come out won't be considered as much by you.

But if they give great content away of course you'll jump at the chance of buying a paid product further on down the line.

So this leaves us with a problem, what if you're not an expert or a household name what should you do?

I know I'm biased because I've got an article directory but I'd say start writing articles. By writing article you get your name out there all of a sudden you're not a nobody but a published name.

The best thing about articles is the more your customers see the same name popping up again and again in your chosen field; the more they're going to think "Maybe this guy/gal knows what they're talking about, if they're giving away a report maybe I should grab it?"

Take Jimmy D Brown as an example, if you're in the internet marketing circle you know him. Why, because he has content all over the internet article, reports, etc. The more you And because of that you start downloading his reports etc.
Finally,

Your FREE report maybe be free but don't think that the name that's attached to it can't make a big difference to your audience and add a whole lot of value to it.

"So, today your mission if you choose to accept it is to put pen to paper and flood your chosen niche with great articles that make a name for yourself!"
