| Take it Personal or Someone Else Will! |
|
The Internet can be a cold place, don't make the mistake of treating your customers in the same manner! Giving your customers the personal touch will bring that warm fuzzy feeling right into your checkbook!
The World Wide Web can feel very cold and impersonal, yet to be successful marketing on the Internet involves relating with people one-on-one who visit your website. It means being personal in a normally impersonal place. If you are in business it would make sense to make as many sales as possible. The intention is to make things better for yourself, your family, maybe even friends and society as a whole. To be successful then, you'll need to reach as many interested people as possible. But, odds are the Internet community is not reading your message. Only individuals are reading your message. But it's individuals who are reacting to your sales copy and hopefully taking the action you want them to. The big question is; How do you connect with your prospects one at a time? I do it by imagining a friend's face while I'm writing my message. I intentionally write as if I am communicating to them directly. Don't write to a group that's impersonal, but write to an individual even if you will be sending the message to 1,000 or 10,000 or 1,000,000 people. Not only is it important for you to put a face to your customer, its equally as important for your customers to put a face on you. That is the reason I put my photo on my website with a short bio. I want my visitors to get to know and connect with me. I recommend you do the same. When you connect with people one-on-one you build trust and respect. I'm sure you've heard the term rapport? Same thing. Don't think of your contacts as just potential buyers. You need to begin seeing them as individuals sitting in front of their computers reading and enjoying something you wrote. And you know what...you will begin to feel the connection or rapport you have with your customer. If you look at your own buying habits chances are you'll realize that you buy from people that you like or connect with. You feel good when you buy some product or service from someone you have gotten to know versus a competing website that is impersonal. Guess what?! Everyone else makes their buying decisions the same way! Do your best to cultivate those personal relationships. It's critical to your business and personal success that you realize it's individuals that make business decisions. Real people sitting at their computers and reading something you've written, that should be the focus of your efforts. If you write just like you would talk to a friend. People buy from people they know (or think they know). The more you let your customers get to know you, the more sales you'll see in your bottom line! |
