There is this misconception in the marketing world that marketing is about the numbers. Many of the "big hitters" will tell you this. They will tell you that you must market to the masses, sell to the masses, and recruit the masses.
There is this misconception in the marketing world that marketing is about the numbers. Many of the "big hitters" will tell you this. They will tell you that you must market to the masses, sell to the masses, and recruit the masses. Sadly enough, there are many of those very wealthy marketers that have made a fortune living by this creed. Even more sad, is the trail that they have left behind. Person upon person they have sold to and never thought about again. Recruit after recruit they have promised the world, all the while just using them for their own personal gain. They find a product or a service, they figure out their marketing strategy (which is always numbers driven), they implement their strategy, and begin to bring the people. These people will use whatever means necessary to ensure their own success and that of the select group that sits at the top with them. There are indeed quite a few very successful marketers, and among the elite are some that have not buit their wealth nor their business using these strategies. It is this select group that has kept the world of marketing alive and that will enable it to survive for many years to come. If you want to create and build a sound marketing business, or any business for that matter, there are a couple of key things you should etch into your memory. The first thing you must realize, is that marketing is NOT about the numbers. Simply stated, this business is about PEOPLE. Without people, it would have no purpose, it would have no future, and more importantly it just would not exist. It does not matter if you have the greatest product or idea the world has ever seen, if the people are not there, then you ultimately have nothing. People are intelligent beings, and they are not it search of the next greatest thing to come along. They are looking for business people in whom they can place their trust. You must market yourself and not the product you are trying to sell. You must sell yourself and not the product. If you build relationships with the people you wish to sell to, and let them know that you are a person just like they are, then you will succeed. Does this mean that you will make every sale. No, it does not. What it does mean is that you will build a customer base that will buy almost anything you have to offer for the simple reason that they believe in you. You must maintain these relationships and nurture them as if they were a newborn baby. This will be the ultimate key to your success. |
