| Why and How I Chose the Internet Marketing Industry - PART 1 |
|
We've come from the stone-age to the bronze-age to renaissance to the industrial revolution to the electronics age and e-business. It appeared to me, that the future of business was the internet and so I began to research internet business.
I've not always owned my own business, I was also an employee and the challenge as an employee, even a successful and financially well-compensated employee, is that someone else is in charge of your life. They control your vacation time, your health-benefits, they ultimately even decide the type of vehicle you drive and the type of home you live in, because they control your financial future. So, when I'd finally "climbed the ladder" as far as I could climb, the natural step was to own my own business. I invested in a small traditional business. The challenge with owning one's own traditional brick and mortar business is the overhead and time involved. If I wanted to be able to step away from my business and still make money, it required more employees, which meant more overhead in the form of employment taxes, equipment, salaries, etc. It also meant that I had to find someone to trust with everything as if they were me. After a time, I realized that I enjoyed ownership, but not the extra overhead and employees that may or may not have integrity or strong work ethic, thereby causing turn over and a potentially perpetual cycle of more money, more employees, and a greater time commitment. I really felt there had to be a better way. First, I reset my goals. The basics have remained the same over the years, to get financially and time free. So the natural progression for me was to kick off the overhead and time restraints required by my traditional business, and find a way to create wealth that not only kept costs to a minimum, but would also give me and my family the time together that we always worked toward, as well as left over time for service to others. Next, I began looking at the future of how business is done. As the times change, I find that this serves successful businessmen well. I learned this from my father as he has always been great at looking to the future and planning well. He actually created his own financial well-being by sharing this gift and showing others how to invest for their future. Not bad for a former electrical technician.
