Do you know what your biggest problem with internet marketing is? Are you achieving the results you want? If not, I bet I know one reason why-(it might be the reason why!).

When I got serious about my internet marketing business, I started keeping track of a few things. I was still working full-time, so I was doing my internet marketing on the side. One thing I decided I needed to know was how many hours I actually worked. So, I stated keeping a little diary of when I was actually working.

The results were astounding! Where I thought I was working ten to fifteen hours a week, I was only working four or five. That had to change if I was ever going to reach my goal of making internet business my full-time employment.

The other thing I started keeping track of was exactly what I was doing while I was "working". Let me explain what I mean.

The Internet is so seductive, especially for someone like me who drools at any new information about internet marketing. Let's list some things I could do online, other than work.

• I can check any of a number of email accounts I have
• I can check my websites-you know make sure they're still there
• I can check how my web pages are ranking for their main keyword phrases
• I can read any of about 50 to 100 blogs whose feeds I get-That's how I learn!
• I can Google stuff
• Oh, speaking of Google, I can check my Google analytics account to get yet another picture of my stats
• I can check any of a number of affiliate sites to see how much I've sold
• I can check my Aweber account to see how many more people have signed up to my various lists
• I can...

Full Stop!

Let me tell you two things:

1. Not one of the above is going to make me any money, TODAY!
2. I bet you're on the same hamster wheel.

It's so easy for those of us who make money on the internet to get involved in doing anything but working. To solve this problem I did the following: I made a schedule to follow for my day. I only allow myself to check email twice a day-once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I scheduled some surfing time for myself.

Other than that, when I'm working, I'm really working! You know, creating content, testing and tracking, that sort of thing.

That one change made my productivity soar!

It wouldn't have happened, though, until I got serious about making money online.
