Promote Your Website by Generating Free Traffic
Whenever one is running an online business, the rules of any business environment apply too since the objective here is to increase revenues and minimize cost as much as possible. The assumption here is that you already own a website or a Blog that you need to drive traffic to and you have submitted to several URL directories so as it can be listed and magically some people will do some searching and boom you site appears. Newsflash! You need to work a little harder than that.

To the point now, there are methods that you can apply to your website and be able to generate free traffic which from my small business model above will reduce your costs. This can be achieved through:

• Off-page optimization - these are techniques that you apply to your website that are not within the website referred mostly as "reciprocal linking"
• On-page optimization - these are techniques that you apply within your website and it is the easiest form of optimization and we shall cover how you go about it.

My assumption is that you have already done some keyword research and you have done some wise choice. The choice of keyword is an art and it should be done with precision and care since you might end up optimizing the wrong keywords.

STEP 1: TITLE PAGE FOR OUR WEBSITE.

It should contain ONLY the main keywords: The least number of words you place in your title.

STEP 2: H1 HEADER TAG

Ensure add a h1 header tag and place our most important keyword there.

STEP 3: H2 HEADER TAGS

Think of H2 header tag as a sub-heading of your H1 header tag and place your second most appropriate keyword herewith something ambiguous like what we covered earlier, Search Engine will see your page as a spam and it will not be ranked well.

STEP 4: BOLD, ITALICIZING AND UNDERLINING

After you are done writing your content, go through your website and bold, italicize, underline your keywords and don't overdo it as it will hurt you more than it will benefit.

STEP 5: (Alt) IMAGE TAGS

Add an alt image tag to your image at the top of your website, be it your business logo: use something that is related to the content of your website.

STEP 6: LET SEARCH ENGINES READ YOUR CONTENT FIRST

As we have seen that most if not all Search Engines read your content from top left to bottom right, The main reason why you want to do this is to make sure that your keywords are seen.
