A way of finding out which one are active is to visit the forum's main 'sub forum' and see how many posts and replies were made in the last few days. If there are around 100 replies or more, the forum is worth joining, if it has thousands then it is most definitely worth joining. Join a few of these forums, 2 or 3 is good if there are more that is worth your time you can join them, but it can get very time consuming.
