When the google-bot visits your site, it will scan all your links, spider through each page, and store the information that it reads. That's why your site must be search engine friendly as well as "people-friendly". Sites that are updated frequently are visited more often. If you make frequent additions or changes to your site (for example several times a week), the search engine robots will visit more frequently. This is GREAT for you. Why? Because your information contained in the google index will be updated as often as you update your site. AND you're gaining more exposure which will result in higher rankings in the index. The reverse of this is true too. If your site remains unchanged for years, and then you overhaul, it may take many months for the information contained in google's index to be flushed out and updated. It's for this reason that blogs are popular. It's easy to add and edit content. So new blog posts are usually added frequently. The result?
