A success of a site can usually be summarized in one word: traffic! It doesn't matter that you have just created a sales page masterpiece. It doesn't matter if you have the world's greatest offer. If you don't have traffic to your site, you'll just be one of the billions of sites filling up the cyber wastelands.

And don't think that guaranteed traffic, exit traffic, pop-up traffic, or other low grade traffic sources count as "traffic." For the most part, these un-targeted traffic sources are just an exercise in futility, generating terrible returns on your investment of time and money.

What I've found that has worked for me over the last year has been article writing. Currently, article writing and distribution is my favorite and most profitable form of internet traffic generation to date. By writing focused articles pertaining to the topic of your product, membership site, or service, you can generate very qualified leads and buyers to your offers. When you submit your articles to the various article directories, you get the chance to rank highly in the search engines for your articles keywords, as well as get direct traffic from individuals reading your articles from various article directories (assuming you've submitted them to various article directories).

By including a resource box at the end of your article, you'll give your reader the opportunity to click to your site, and respond to your offers. If you know what you're doing, this form of traffic generation is HIGHLY effective.

Here's how to create a traffic goldmine with your article writing:

1) WRITE WITH YOUR READER IN MIND

First, be absolutely clear about the audience to whom you're writing to. Then craft an article that you know your reader will take an active interest in. As an example, my typical customer will have an interest in traffic generation. Hence, writing an article about generating traffic (what a coincidence with this article right J would probably be well accepted to the individuals I'm trying to target (like you reading this).

Remember to provide an article that is both useful and informative. Just because it is a free article, doesn't mean you have to write fluff or useless trash. Give your readers real value, and they will appreciate your offers that much more, and be more inclined to respond to you. After all, you're building a relationship by providing real value. And people do business with people the trust and like. By providing content that they can benefit from, you are building trust and credibility, and creating the foundation for many future sales.

2) END WITH A RESOURCE BOX

Never write an article without leaving a resource box for your readers so they will have the opportunity to respond to your offer. With your resource box, be sure to leave a clickable link to your site and offer so that interested readers can take the 2nd step and click through to your various offers on your website, and learn more about your products and/or services.

3) SUBMIT YOUR ARTICLES TO ARTICLE DIRECTORIES

Always be sure to submit your articles to the big article directories to get the most exposure to your articles. My favorite 2 article directories are ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com. In fact, at the time of this writing, these are the only 2 I use. To get an expanded list of other article directories to submit your article to, simply type in "article directories" in google.com. Your search results should include a few more prominent directories.

4) RINSE AND REPEAT

The article writing game is won by the person who creates and submits the most articles. Assuming that you create decent quality articles, it becomes a numbers game. The more quality articles you generate, the more money you'll make.

By following this 4 step process, you should see a perpetual flow of traffic to your site and offerings. Write your articles with quality and your readers in mind, and you will benefit from your work for years to come.
